1 Day Mabamba Swamp Experience: Mabamba Swamp is among the most notable destinations for travelers interested in birding in Uganda. The swamp is famous for the endangered shoebill stork sightings, but other than the shoe bill stork, other wildlife species can be seen, like can be seen including over 100 bird species, different mammal species, and many more. In this 1 day mabamba swamp experience, we are going to focus on birding, primarily tracking the endangered shoebill stork.

As early as 7:00 am, our guide for the safari will pick you up and transfer you to Nakiwogo landing site or Kasanje landing site for a quick briefing about your safari experience. Upon arrival, you will engage in a canoe trip that focuses on searching for the endangered shoebill stork. The ride will offer you chances to spot bird species like the Malachite kingfisher that can be seen hunting for their prey, the Papyrus gonolek, the African havana, and many other species. When you get to the endangered shoebill stork, you will be mesmerised by its behaviour, which includes standing motionless for hours just to keep an eye on its prey before it strikes. You will hear the machine gun-like sound they make as they move, which is quite thrilling to encounter. After the experience, have lunch at a nearby local sports and later on transfer back to kampala city for drop off at an agreed location. Alternatively, if time is willing, you can embark on a nature walk or cultural tour around the area to engage with the locals and also get to watch different wildlife species.
NB: The safari is best carried out during September to May, when the highest numbers of migratory bird species. Some of the items you should carry include binoculars, sunscreen, a hat, a camera, rain coat cause it can rain at any time of the day.
