This 2 day chimpanzee habituation in Kibale national park will lead you to the chimpanzees that can be seen in their natural habitat. In this safari experience, you will get the chance to participate in chimpanzee habituation in Uganda starting from Kampala city where you will be picked up from and drop off in Kigali city all of which will make your Uganda safari quite memorable. Day 1: Pick up from Kampala city and transfer Kibale National Park
Depending on your location in Kampala city, our guide will pick you and brief you on your 3 days gorilla trekking from Kampala tour and after you will embark on your journey to the park. The drive to the park from Kampala takes approximately 7 to 8 hours. On reaching Kayabwe, you will pose at the equator and experiments of the north and southern hemispheres will be carried out to show that you are in between both which is quite interesting.
Photography at the equator will also be allowed and after the interesting experience you will continue on your journey to Kibale National Park the primate hub of Uganda. Lunch will be served at Igongo cultural centre, an amazing traditional centre where you will be able to see the evolution of the Ugandan culture for instance money, dress code and a number of other attractions. The centre has a museum which will show the different households of the people from western Uganda, the restaurant at the centre offer different cultural dishes like millet bread, dishes made with locally/ handmade ghee which is quite an adventure to taste the authentic dishes.
After lunch at the Igongo cultural centre, you will proceed your to Kibale National Park reaching in the late afternoon. If time is willing, you will participate in the nature walks in Kibale national park which will give you the chance to watch a number of different attractions from the primates, numerous bird species and many other attractions. After the safari experience, you will head to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Chimpanzee habituation and transfer to Kigali city
After an early morning breakfast at your hotel, you will transfer to the park where you will make your way to the park where you will have the chance to participate in the briefing session for chimpanzee habituation in Uganda which will give you an insight of the safari experience, you will be assigned to a guide who will take you on your chimpanzee habituation experience in Uganda, you will also be assigned to a ranger and then be assigned to a chimpanzee troop that is undergoing the habituation process.
After the briefing session, you will then make your way to track the chimpanzee troops undergoing the habituation process. Hiking through the forests will give you access to a number of attractions from the bird species like; the blue turaco, Ross’s turaco, coqui Francolin, long tailed cisticola, bubbling cisticola, Miombo wren warbler, Chubb’s cisticola among other the bird species. You will also get to watch primates like the Mona monkey, vervet monkey, silver monkey, dent’s monkey among other attractions.
When you get to the habituation troop you will spend four hours with them understanding a number of their different features as they go about their daily activities. Interesting about the safari is the fact that you will get to participate in the training session which will give you more time with the species. After the safari experience, you will make your way back to your starting point where you will be presented with a chimpanzee habituation certificate to mark your participation in the activity. After you will be dropped in Kigali city and this will mark the end of your 2 days Chimpanzee habituation in Kibale National Park.
