3 Days Congo Gorilla Trekking Safari: This is a 3 days gorilla trekking safari in Kahuzi-Biega National Park, located in the eastern province of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Kahuzi-Biega national park in Congo gives visitors an opportunity to track the famous eastern Lowland gorilla species. This sub-species is quite different from the rare mountain gorillas and can be easily identified by their large physic and brown hairy bodies. They are the largest of all four gorilla subspecies. This 3 days Congo gorilla trekking safari in Kahuzi-Biega national park will start and end in Kigali city in Rwanda.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali & Transfer to Kahuzi-Biega National Park.
Pick-up & Transfer to Kahuzi-Biega: Depending on your preferred pick up station in Kigali, our company guide/driver will pick you up and drive for about 7 hours through Nyungwe national park. During your voyage, you will be graced with stunning views of Rwanda’s countryside filled with majestic and ever green, terraced hills in Rusizi. You will have a stopover for lunch and to refresh yourself. You will then proceed with your drive through the Cyangugu border, crossing over to Bukavu town in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Upon your arrival at Bukavu, transfer to Kahuzi-Biega national park where you check into your lodge for dinner and accommodation.
Day 2: Gorilla Trek.
Gorilla Trek: After having breakfast at your lodge meet up with your guide and drive to the park’s headquarters for about 45 minutes. Upon your arrival at the park, check-in and proceed for a briefing from the park’s head ranger. At exactly 8am, you will set off for your long awaited lowland gorilla trekking experience in the valleys of Kahuzi-Biega. During your trek, you will also have an opportunity to encounter other mammals, bird species and primates like monkeys. It takes about 1-6 hours tracking the lowland gorillas, depending on their location in the forest. Once a group of lowland gorillas has been located, you will be given an hour to spend with the majestic primates. Have your packed lunch and later head back to base, where you will meet up with your guide and drive back to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 3: Transfer Back to Kigali.
Transfer back to Kigali: Wake up early in the morning and have your breakfast. Check out of your lodge and drive back to Kigali city in Rwanda. You will take the same route, driving through Nyungwe national park in Rusizi. You have stopovers at the King’s Palace in Nyanza and at the Ethnography national museum in Butare, with lunch enroute to Kigali. Upon your arrival in Kigali city, you can have your guide/driver drop you off at any hotel of your choice or at the airport in time to check-in and board your flight back home. End of Tour.
