3 Days Virunga Gorilla Trekking is an explicit tour package that gives you the opportunity to track the endangered mountain gorillas in Congo’s Virunga National Park. The park is one of the three habitats in the world where you can see mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. To be able to take this 3 days Congo safari, you must be in Kigali city in Rwanda where our guide will pick you from and transfer you to Virunga national park in Goma. Detailed Itinerary for 3 Days Virunga Gorilla Trekking Safari.
Day 1: Pick up from Kigali and Transfer to Kibumba Tented Camp.
Meet your guide at a designated pick up location of your choice in Kigali city. After a brief meet and greet session with your guide, proceed with your transfer to Goma through the Grand Barrier border in Gisenyi town. You will then clear with the immigrations office, located in Goma, and then proceed with your transfer to Kibumba tented camp that is located near trailhead of Nyiragongo volcano. Dinner and accommodation at Kibumba Tented Camp.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Virunga.
Start your day with a delightful breakfast combo from your camp. Later, your guide will drop you off at Bukima Patrol post where your gorilla trekking activity will commence. You will be required to present your gorilla trekking permit to the officials at the park before heading for a short briefing by the head ranger. Later head out to the forest with your ranger guide and expect to hike for 1 to 3 hours until you locate a gorilla group. Once you have located the gorillas, you will be given only an hour to spend with the gorillas. You are permitted to take as many pictures as you want when with the gorillas; just many sure that your camera’s flashlight has been disabled, so as not to agitate or aggravate the gorillas because they are sensitive to flashlights. After your gorilla trekking experience, head back to the park’s headquarters in Bukima where you will receive your gorilla trekking certificated and then drive back to your camp for lunch. You can rest for the rest of the evening and later take a short stroll around the campsite where you will see lots of bird species and some primate species like monkeys. Have dinner and an overnight stay at your camp.
Day 3: Transfer back to Kigali.
After having a relaxed breakfast, you will drive back to Kigali in Rwanda; and depending on departure flight time, you can have a half day tour of Kigali City. During your Kigali city tour, you will visit some amazing cultural and historical places in the city like; Kigali genocide memorial center, camp Kigali, Nyamirambo women’s center and Caplaki craft village; where you can grab some souvenirs for yourself and your loved ones back home.
