Day 1: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Have breakfast at your own pace, meet up with your guide, and make your way to Volcanoes National Park, arriving in time to participate in the exploration of the Musanze caves that have significant history behind them, like the fact that they were used as coronation grounds for the former kings of Rwanda. You’ll also get to watch the different attractions in the caves, including different small mammal species and different birds. After the safari experience, make your way to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 2: Mount Gahinga hike
Amount gahinga hike will give you exceptional views of the swamp-filled crater, home to several mammal species, and you will have the chance to watch the golden monkeys. The hike will also give you the chance to watch about 100 bird species for travelers interested in birding in Rwanda, some of which include the Rwenzori turaco, one of the most sought-after Albertine endemic bird species. After the experience, head back to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Mount Muhabura hike and departure
Wake up, have breakfast, and make your way to the park headquarters to participate in the Mount Muhabura hike. The mount sits on an elevation of 4,127 km, making it the third-highest Virunga Mountain and one of the steepest. During the hike, you will watch several primates like the Hamlyn’s monkey, Mona monkey, vervet monkey, and many other monkey species. The hike will give you rewarding views of other Virunga mountains, different bird species, and many more.
