4 Days Rwanda Gorilla and Golden Monkey Trekking

Day 1: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

Your driver guide will meet you at your agreed location in Kigali city to transfer to Volcanoes National Park, where you will arrive in time to participate in Ibyi’wacu cultural village tour. Have a guided walk around the village at the different sites that exhibit the different aspects of the people of at the village to gain an insight into the interesting features of the culture of the people of Rwanda.  You will get to see the replica of the king’s palace, where you will get to see the architecture that they used during the olden times, which involves the use of grass and cow dung to establish strong house structures. At the king’s palace, you will get to see a medicine man who is mixing a number of herbs that were used to cure a number of diseases like barrenness and impotence, stomach upsets, fever, and many more. If you’re interested, you can also get involved in mixing the herbs, which will give you an authentic experience. After the experience head to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay. Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Rwanda

After an early morning breakfast at your hotel, you will be picked up from your hotel. Our guide will meet you after you have your breakfast and lunch packed, and he will take you to Kinigi Headquarters, where you are expected to be given a brief before starting the gorilla trek. This brief is done at 7 am. You are given guidelines during this brief before you are allowed to start the trek. This gorilla trek can take anywhere from 2 hours to half a day, as it’s unpredictable. When you finally find the gorillas, you will have to maintain a 7 meters’ distance, and you are allowed one hour to admire and take photos of the gorillas. During the time you spend with the gorillas you will get the opportunity to understand a number of their rewarding features like how they co-exist with one another, you will get to watch the duty of the dominant silverback whose role is to mate with the adult females to increase the members of the family, raid other gorilla families for their members, you will watch the juveniles grooming one another for a rewarding safari experience. After the trek, you will head to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Golden monkey trekking in Rwanda

After an early morning breakfast, you will meet with our guide to transfer you to Volcanoes National Park, where you will get to participate in the golden monkey trekking, which will lead you to a number of different attractions in the wild, from the habituated golden monkey troops that you will get to observe as they go about their daily activities in the wild. The golden monkeys can be accessed when you hike the Virunga mountains in Rwanda, which will lead you to the habituated gorilla families watching how they co-exist with one another, the environment, and many other rewarding features. After the safari experience, you will embark on your journey back to Akagera National Park, where you will arrive in time to participate in a short game drive. Later, you will transfer to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 4: Dian Fossey hike and museum visit

After an early morning breakfast, you will embark on Dian Fossey’s hike, which involves hiking to her grave. On your way to the hike, you will watch a number of attractions that primates like the dent’s monkey, Mona monkey, vervet monkey, silver monkey, black and white colobus monkey, and many other attractions. You will also have the opportunity to watch a number of different bird species, so don’t forget to carry your bird checklist for Volcanoes National Park. On your way to the grave, you will get the chance to understand more about the legacy of Dian Fossey and how she spearheaded gorilla trekking in Africa, with her research being used today to carry out research on the gorillas. When you reach the gorilla cemetery, you will watch the graves of the friends of Dian Fossey that were killed by poachers, and also get to watch her grave with a stone that states how she loved her gorilla friends. You will also get to watch the grave of her favorite gorilla digit. After the safari experience, you will then make your way to visit the Dian Fossey museum, which will summarize your Diane Fossey experience. Interesting about your visit to the museum, you will get to put a face to the history of the Diane Fossey and her works with pictorial representation of her works in Rwanda, and also get to watch her old team, her gorilla friends which will make your safari experience quite memorable. After the safari experience, you will make your way back to Kigali city, where you will be dropped off at a location of your choice, and the end of your 4 Days Rwanda Gorilla and Golden Monkey Trekking
