This 5 Day Murchison Falls & Masai Mara safari, will take you to two of the most renowned wildlife safari destinations in the East African Region, Murchison Falls National Park in Uganda and Masai-Mara National Park in Kenya. These two national parks are by far the best for viewing savannah wildlife in Africa. Murchison Falls National Park is located in the northern part of Uganda and covers districts like Nwoya, Masindi, Packwach, Kiryandongo and Buliisa. It is the largest national park in Uganda covering 3,840 square kilometers and was declared a national park in 1952. The national park is quite famous for its stunning wildlife numbers and the mighty Murchison falls, which are considered to be the world’s most powerful waterfalls. The park shelters about 76 mammal species and over 451 species of birds.
This 5 Days Murchison Falls & Masai-Mara safari will also take you to Masa-Mara National Park which is located in the Narok County in southwestern Kenya. It is the largest game reserve in the country, covering 1,510 square kilometers and is home to the famous ‘Maasai’ people. It was gazetted as a national park in 1974. The national park is famous for its wide base of wildlife species and annual ‘Great Migration’ which sees one of the most impressive wildlife migrations in the world, involving about 1,300,000 wildebeest, 500,000 Thomson’s gazelles, 97,000 Topi, 18,000 elands and 200,000 zebras. These animals migrate north from Serengeti National Park in Tanzania to Masai-Mara national park around July and back to Serengeti around October.

Day 1: Pick Up from Kampala and Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park.
Welcome to Uganda! Hope you had a pleasant flight to the ‘Pearl of Africa.’ Today marks the start of an amazing 5 Days safari with us in Uganda. Start your day with a delightful breakfast at your hotel in Kampala where you will be picked up by your safari guide from Explore Rwanda Tours. You will be transferred to Murchison Falls National Park in northern Uganda. The national park is a habitat for a variety of wildlife animals such as; the African Savannah Elephants, zebras, giraffe, antelopes, buffaloes, warthogs, baboons, Hippos, Nile crocodiles and so many more. En route, you will visit the famous Luwero Triangle, have lunch in Masindi town. You will have a stopover at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary where you will get to see rhinos in the wild. The sanctuary is the only destination where visitors can get to see rhinos in the natural habitat.
Later proceed with your drive to Murchison Falls national park. Upon your arrival at the park, you will embark on a guided nature walk to the Top of the falls. The hike starts off at Barker’s point taking you through the devil’s cauldron and finally winds up at Murchison falls.
Later check into your Lodge, freshen up, have dinner and a good night’s rest. Accommodation at Heritage Safari Lodge/Pakuba/Paraa Safari Lodge.
Day 2: Morning Game Drive and Evening Boat Cruise.
After an early breakfast, head out for a morning game drive on the northern bank of River Nile. Enjoy 3-5 hours of exclusive wildlife viewing in the park. While on the game drive, you will have a chance to sight wildlife species like Elephants, the Rothschild giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, Hartebeests, Uganda Kobs, Waterbucks, Oribis, Impala and so many others. Return to your lodge for Lunch and later in the afternoon, drive out for a boat cruise on the Albert Nile. While on your boat cruise, you will get a panoramic view of the majestic and mighty Murchison falls. Spend quality time marveling at nature’s beautiful gifts and enjoy seeing crocodiles, hippos and various bird species such as the Kingfisher, cormorants, and the Rare Shoebill Stork among others.
Later drive back to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 3: Transfer to Entebbe Airport and Fly to Masai-Mara National Park.
Start your day with an early Breakfast at your hotel and later drive to Entebbe airport where you will board your flight to Masai Mara National Park in Kenya. Flights to Masai Mara national park from Entebbe leave at exactly 12 noon and take about 2½ hours. Upon your arrival in the national park, you will have lunch at your designated lodge. You can choose to spend the rest of your evening relaxing at your lodge. Alternatively, you can head out for an evening nature walk or game drive in the national park. Later retire back to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay. Accommodation will be at Sarova Mara Lodge/ Mara Sopa Lodge/ AA Lodges.
Day 4: Full day Game Drive in Masai-Mara.
Have your breakfast in the morning and head out for a full day game drive in Masai Mara National Park. This guided game drive will lead you to some of Africa’s largest lion prides, herds of zebra, antelopes, buffaloes, wildebeests, giraffes, cheetahs, and hyenas in the park. Masai Mara national park is a haven for savannah wildlife animals in Kenya, and the park is among one of the top destinations for wildlife safaris on the African continent. Return back to your lodge for lunch and rest for a while. Later head out for an afternoon game drive in the Masai Mara plains which are full of wildebeests especially during the migration season which is early July and in October to September. You will also have an opportunity to see impala, topi, cheetah, jackals, and bat-eared foxes. If you are lucky, you will spot some black rhinos within the park; these rhino species are a bit shy and tend to isolated themselves from other wildlife animals in the park, which makes sighting them quite difficult. You will also drive along the Mara River, which has a large number of Hippos, as well as Nile crocodiles.
Later retire back to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Transfer to Nairobi and Departure.
Unfortunately, today marks the end of your 5 days Safari with us. After having breakfast at your lodge, you will drive to Narok which is a famous Masai town near Masai Mara national park. You will get a chance to interact with the local Masai people living in this town and visit local craft shops where you can grab yourself and loved ones some souvenirs. Later proceed with your drive to Nairobi where your guide will either drop you off at the airport or to your hotel in Nairobi city. End of Tour.
Note: Depending on your departure times, you can have a short tour of Nairobi city where you can visit interesting places such as; the National Museum, Nairobi City Market, and the Snake Park among others. Do give us prior notice in case you want this activity added into your itinerary.
