Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer To Nyungwe Forest National Park

On day 1 of the 6 Days Rwanda and Uganda Primate Safari, upon your arrival, you will be picked up by the driver from your hotel in Kigali and drive southwards to Nyungwe Forest National Park. You will have a stopover in Butare, where you will visit the National Museum of Rwanda, and the king’s Palace in Nyanza with lunch en route. Before you make your way to the Park you will have a stopover at the Huye Women’s coffee Cooperative which will take you on a 2 hour’s safari at the coffee plantation understanding more about the coffee making process from harvesting, sorting, and cleaning until it is processed. It should be noted that Rwanda is home to one of the best sought-after coffee You will also get to watch how coffee has improved the livelihoods of the neighboring communities through women empowerment for an amazing safari experience. After the safari experience, make your way to the park and check in your hotel. Dinner and overnight at Dinner and overnight at Nyungwe Hill Top View Hotel.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking And Canopy Walk.

On day 2 of the 6 Days Rwanda and Uganda Primate Safari, enjoy breakfast and go for a briefing about the endangered chimpanzees before entering the forest in search of the active and playful fellows in Nyungwe forest. The Chimpanzees are much easier to spot as they jump from one tree to another, chattering and laughing. Chimpanzee tracking usually takes about 3 hours. To find them, spend an hour while taking pictures and videos.  You will then return to your hotel to freshen up, have lunch then check out and later in the afternoon participate in After lunch, you will go on a walking trail that will take you to the Canopy Walk-a swing bridge 50 meters in length that is suspended from large trees. You will be able to see the amazing rainforest with a bird’s eye view, spotting wildlife moving about below you and thereafter connect to your accommodation to spend the evening at leisure.

Day 3: Transfer Back to Kigali

After an early morning breakfast at your hotel, you will embark on your journey back to Kigali city where if time allows, you will visit the genocide museum and later transfer to the airport for your onward flight or dropped at your hotel for dinner and overnight stay. (alternatively, You can also choose to transfer to Uganda directly and then make your way to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park) which is also another Hotel des Mille Collines for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Pick up and transfer to Bwindi.

Depending on your location in Kigali city, you will be picked by your guide, our company representative who will give you a briefing session for your gorilla habituation experience in Uganda and gorilla trekking experience in  Uganda While in Kigali city you can choose to participate in the Kigali city tour if time is willing. With the Kigali city tour, you will get the opportunity to visit a number of different sites in the park like the Kigali genocide memorial museum which will give you the chance to understand more about the 1994 Rwanda genocide that claimed around 1,000,000 people in the country due to the unsettling conflicts among the different cultural groups the Hutu against the Tutsi. You will also get to visit the Kimironko market the oldest and largest market in Rwanda where you will get to explore the different cultures of people since the market is a converging place for people from different countries like Uganda, Kenya and Congo among other countries, you will also get to buy some souvenirs in the wild for an amazing safari experience in Rwanda. after the experience, you will make your way to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park the home top half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas, and check into your hotel near it. The journey will take you about 4 to 5-hour ride. You will have a lunch stopover and also get to enjoy the informed tour by our guide en route. Upon arrival at your hotel, you will refresh, have dinner then rest in anticipation for the day.

Day 5: Gorilla Habituation In Bwindi.

In the morning you will be provided with breakfast at the lodge just before you set off to the forest headquarters. Your lunch will be packed then our guide will drive you to the headquarters which are quite close to the hotel. After the briefing, you will join a group of researchers for the gorilla habituation. With gorilla habituation in Uganda, you will get to spend four hours with the gorillas You will be allowed to spend 4 hours with the gorillas as you observe a number of their rewarding features and their different authentic reactions with the gorillas in the wild.

DAY 6: Gorilla Trekking Uganda

Enjoy an early morning breakfast and transfer to the park headquarters with your packed lunch for briefing by the ranger guides and later head into the forest for your trek. Gorilla trekking in Bwindi takes 2 to 8 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas. The gentle giants leave up to their names how gentle and composed they are. However, you should consider maintaining a safe distance away from them to avoid disrupting their peace. In other words, just observe and enjoy the moment with them. On finding them, you will be allowed 1 hour to view and take photos of these gentle primates, enjoy your lunch packs and meet your driver/guide, and transfer back to your lodge. After your gorilla habituation experience in Uganda, you will make your way back to Kigali city where you will be dropped off at a location of your choice in Kigali city or Kigali International Airport and the end of your gorilla safari in Uganda.
