8 days explore Rwanda tour is an experience which will take you across various destinations in Rwanda. The tour will start with a wildlife safari around Akagera national park where you will engage in a game drive and boat cruise before continuing to the next destination which is Volcanoes national park.
During the 8 days explore Rwanda tour, you will also visit Volcanoes national park for gorilla trekking, golden monkey trekking and also Bisoke hike. The tour will also take you to the home of chimpanzees in Rwanda which is Nyungwe forest national park for chimpanzee trekking and a canopy walk. After visiting the different national parks, you will return to Kigali which will bring the tour to an end.
Day 1: Arrive in Kigali, transfer to Akagera National Park and boat cruise
On the 1st day of your 8 Days Explore Rwanda Tour, You will be met by your driver guide at your agreed location in Kigali to transfer to Akagera national park where you will arrive in time to embark in an early morning game drives that will give you the chance to watch a number of game animals especially the herbivores like the elephants grazing within the plains, the rhinos, you will also get to see a number of remarkable views for the park and a number of rewarding attractions after your game drive you will transferred to the lodge for lunch and refreshments and later on participate in the afternoon boat cruise on Lake Ihema where you will see game like hippopotamuses, Crocodiles and many bird species like the endangered shoe bill stork, African King fishers catching their prey from the Lake that live around the lake and the surrounding swamps. Day 2: full game drive and transfer to volcanoes national park.
Rise up early and go for a game drive with great anticipation of seeing the different animals which rise early to graze and predators looking for their early morning kill. After the game drive, return to the lodge to freshen up and embark on your journey to Volcanoes national park with lunch en-route, arriving Ruhengeri in the evening. DAY 3: GORILLA TREK IN VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK.
As early at 6am, you will be expected to be up for breakfast and ready to set off for the trek. Our guide will meet you after having your breakfast and your lunches packed and he will take you to Kinigi Headquarters where you are expected to be given a brief before starting the gorilla trek. This brief is done at 7am. You are given guidelines during this brief before you are allowed to start the trek. This gorilla trekking can take to about 2 hours to half a day as its unpredictable. When you finally find the gorillas, you will have to maintain a 7 meters’ distance and you are allowed one hour to admire and take photos of the gorillas.
After the trek, you will have lunch and taken back to your hotel as the night before to relax and reminisce on the experience. You can also embark on the iby’iwacu cultural village tour which will give you an insight of the people of Rwanda by visiting the local community which will give you the chance to observe their unique cultural values through dance, food and many other features that you will get to observe when you participate in the activity. After the experience you will head back to your hotel for dinner and overnight will be at Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge (mid-range), Hotel muhabura (budget)
Day 4: Bisoke Hike – Volcanoes National Park/ Golden monkey trekking
On the 4th day of your 8 Days Explore Rwanda Tour, You will enjoy breakfast and set out for Mt. Bisoke hike which is part of volcanoes national park; home to Rwanda gorillas. On reaching the summit, you will discover a beautiful crater lake and the whole experience is overwhelming! Along the trail, you will discover a lot of birdlife and captivating scenery – the reason Rwanda is referred to as the “land of a thousand hills”. Meet your driver / guide and transfer back to the lodge for lunch. If you feel strong, you may opt for a village walk. Alternatively instead of the Bisoke hike, you can take part in golden monkey trekking which will give you the chance to observe the behavior of the endangered Albertine endemic species as you enjoy watching how they co-exist in the wild. Day5: Transfer to Nyungwe national park and canopy walk
Breakfast will be served early meet your driver guide for your transfer to Nyungwe forest you will be driven southwards to Nyungwe forest National park watching a number of rewarding attractions like the rolling hills of Rwanda, the homesteads and so on. You will have a stopover in Butare, where you will visit the national museum of Rwanda, the king’s palace in Nyanza with lunch en-route. After lunch, you head for the canopy walk in Nyungwe national park which will give you exceptional views of the park as you walk along the suspended metallic trail in the trees. You will get to see a number of primates swinging within the branches, like the chimpanzees, different monkey species, you will see numerous bird species and after the rewarding experience, head back to your lodge/ hotel. Day 6: Chimpanzee tracking and tea estate tour
Enjoy breakfast and go for briefing before entering the forest, searching for the active and playful fellows in Nyungwe forest. The Chimpanzees are the easy to spot, as they jump from one tree to another, chattering and laughing. Chimp tracking usually takes about 3 hours. You will then return to your accommodation for lunch. After lunch, you will participate in the tea estate safari which will give you the chance to watch how the tea is harvested you will also participate in the harvesting process, how it is made among other interesting features at the estate. After the rewarding safari, head back to your hotel for dinner and overnight at Nziza eco lodge (Midrange) Gisakura visitor center (budget)
Day 7: Primate trekking safari
On the 7th day of your 8 Days Explore Rwanda Tour, After having breakfast, with your packed lunch, you will embark on the primate trekking safari which will give you the most rewarding experience exploring the different primate species in Nyungwe National park which will give you amazing experiences watching how the different monkey species like the Hamlyn’s monkey, dent’s monkey, vervet monkey, silver monkey and other different species co-exist with one another among other features in the park. Day 8: Transfer back to Kigali
Enjoy breakfast at leisure and transfer back to Kigali. You will go for a city tour where you will visit the Kimironko market and the Kigali genocide memorial site to understand more about the dark period of time during the 1994 Rwanda genocide. After having your lunch, you will be dropped at the hotel advised or you will be dropped at Kigali airport for your scheduled flight back home
