Hiking Mount Kigali : Mount Kigali is one of Rwanda’s most popular tourist destinations. The climb to the top is a strenuous but rewarding experience, providing amazing views of Mount Meru and Lake Kyoga. There are a variety of hikes in Kigali with different difficulty levels, all of which are well-marked and easy to follow. Make sure you bring plenty of water and wear good hiking shoes. Here are some things to know before you go:
The cost to climb is $20/person (USD). The money goes towards local conservation efforts and maintaining the trails. A tour guide costs an additional $15/person (USD). I recommend asking around to see which guide is the most popular. You should be able to find one easily by asking around your hotel or hostel. If you’d prefer to go on your own, the trails are well-marked and there are maps available near the summit. Try to stick to the path to avoid getting lost. You will also be required to pay the park ranger for entering his protected area. This fee is not included in the ticket price.
You should plan to hike early in the morning to avoid the heat (it gets pretty hot in the afternoon!). The trails aren’t very crowded, so you should have plenty of space to yourself. Wear sunscreen and bring plenty of water and snacks. Take lots of breaks as needed to stay hydrated and rest your legs. Don’t forget your camera!
Arrive early so you have plenty of time to purchase your tickets and tour guide. It’s a busy place on weekends! Don’t be surprised if you see a large group of people climbing at the same time – it’s usually not a problem because everyone has plenty of space on the trail. As you ascend the trails, you will eventually reach an observation platform with great views of the surrounding area. You can take some time to rest here before hiking back down. Overall, it’s a fun hike with beautiful scenery and a wonderful sense of accomplishment when you reach the top!
Mount Kigali is home to many species of plants and animals, some of which are rare and endangered. Climbing the mountain helps promote conservation and protect the wildlife in this area. Your support helps protect the local environment and ensures future generations of Rwandans will have access to these beautiful landscapes.
Hiking on Mount Kigali was an amazing experience that I would recommend to anyone visit Rwanda. The mountain is full of beautiful wildlife and exciting activities, and the staff at the resort was very helpful and friendly. I will definitely be coming back next time I’m in Rwanda!
Mount Kigali is a beautiful, active volcano located just outside of the capital, Kigali. It offers hikers a unique view of the surrounding landscape and wildlife. My friends and I decided to climb the mountain a few days ago, and we were delighted by what we saw. It was an unforgettable experience. I loved hiking through the forest and seeing all the different animals along the way on my Rwanda wildlife tour!
