WILDLIFE AT GISENYI BEACH
There is a large population of water birds at Gowanda Beach (Gisenyi) in particular species such as the cormorant, kingfisher, white heron as well as a great variety of waders. There is a good diversity of bird life even as far as the beach goes including the Grey-Headed Gull, the Pied Kingfisher and the White-backed Duck.
OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES AT GISENYI BEACH
-The Belgian Peace Trail goes from Bugesera to Kibuye with splendid views all the way. Hiking along the trail is very popular among locals and visitors alike as it is a relaxing way to enjoy the scenery. You can also walk or cycle along the lake from Gisenyi to Kibuye.

The area around Gisenyi has plenty of accommodation options ranging from simple hotels and guesthouses to luxury villas and resort hotels.
